As part of National Game Design Month I'm releasing a new PocketMod format game today: MechaForce.

The MechaForce rulebook is a very concise and streamlined 7 pages and gives you details on Mecha Construction, Pilot Advancement, Movement, Firing, Brawling, Conventional Forces, and more.

To play the game you will need tokens and a map with a hexagonal grid. You may alternately play with miniatures and model terrain. This purchase includes both a PDF version suitable for reading on your computer, iPad or iPhone and a special 'PocketMod' PDF version for printing. The PocketMod version lets you create your own 4.25" x 2.75" sized game books from a single sheet of paper. Take a copy to read on the go, and print one to give to each player at the table.

I'm going to be illustrating this game book if it gets to the publisher's funding goal by July 31st.

We raised enough contributions on our IndieGoGo campaign to get funded. We'll be starting our new business making miniatures for tabletop gaming. :)

We're at 76% this evening with 6 days left. It's getting down to the wire so anything you can do to help spread the word and bring in those remaining pre-orders would be very appreciated!

We've partnered with Ainsty Casting to offer a new contribution level: Trailblazer at $75.

You'll get all 6 miniatures PLUS $50 of Resin miniatures from Ainsty Casting, with free shipping! Ainsty sells resin boats, buildings, dungeons and other great looking scenery pieces. We're thrilled to be able ot offer this limted perk and will be extending this to the people who have already contributed at the $100 level.

Additionally, Matt Jackson ( [link] ) has offered to do a custom black and white map for two randomly selected contributors! Once we get to our $3,000 goal we'll select the two winners from everyone who's contributed from the $5 level and up.

We've only got 9 days to go to raise enough pre-orders to start our miniature making business! We're really getting close and to help us reach our goal I've added a new contribution level: Bounty Hunter.

For $110 you get the full set of miniatures AND I'll do a b&w artwork commission for you. You get to pick the subject matter and you can use it in any kind of personal or professional project you like.

You can see examples of my art here on the Weird West Miniatures campaign page as well as my online portfolio at [link]

Right now we're at $1720 of our $3000 goal.

Here is the first of our new Weird West Miniatures- an axe wielding, vampire hunting Abraham Lincoln! Ian Mountain did the sculpting on this and will be doing the rest of our Weird West series of miniatures -- as long as we get to our IndieGoGo campaign's funding goal in the next 10 days! (YIKES)

Here it is, the first photo of our axe wielding Abraham Lincoln for Weird West Miniatures! Ian is still working on his face but we wanted to show you the progress so far. :)

We have 14 days left to raise $1,725 in pre-orders for this miniature and 5 more which we'll have sculpted by Ian and cast by RAFM.

Hi DeviantART friends! :)

I wanted to tell you about the fundraising campaign we're running to start our new line of gaming miniatures: Heroes and Villains of the Weird West!

We've got a great team of industry professionals working on this project – Ian Mountain will be doing our sculpting and RAFM miniatures will be handling our mould making and casting. After we finish this campaign we plan on creating further sets of Weird West and Alt-History miniatures, and then release an expanded ruleset for Weird West miniature gaming later this year.

We need your help to make this all happen.

For the next month we're asking our friends and fans to contribute to the project via IndieGoGo.com. You can order the entire set of miniatures, or just one or two. Anyone who contributes to the campaign will also receive some exclusive gaming material (We just sent out a set of printable Weird West cards this morning).

Please visit [link] for more info on the miniatures, concept artwork, and details on the different ways to pre-order.

Thanks again for faving/following my artwork. I appreciate your support.

We're kicking off our crowdsourcing campaign today at IndieGoGo to setup our new line of 28mm  miniatures: Heroes and Villains of the Weird West!

We're creating a set of minis you can use in your Weird West game as well as other Western, Steampunk or Alt-History tabletop games. After we finish this campaign we plan on creating further sets of Weird West and Alt-History miniatures, and then release an expanded ruleset for Weird West miniature gaming later this year.

We've got a great team of industry professionals working on this project - Ian Mountain will be doing our sculpting and RAFM miniatures will be handling our mould making and casting.

We need to raise $3,000 in the next 45 days to pay for our sculpting, mould making, casting, and shipping the miniatures to our contributors. At the $6,000 mark we can also include an extra 2 miniatures for contributors!

This is a really exciting project and I can't wait to see the finished minis on my gaming table alongside my other Western and Alt-History figures.

Finally got around to scanning in the commissioned artwork I've been doing for "The Manse on Murder Hill" an upcoming Fantasy RPG adventure. It's been a lot of fun working with Joe Johnston ( [link] ) on this project.

I'll be posting some of the artwork over the next couple of days, but my scanner is acting up so I'll need to sort that out before I can post other things I've been working on.
And I was tired of looking at the old journal entry.
I read some very good advice the other day for people (like me) who want to improve their artwork -- both in quality and *quantity*... ahem...

Draw for 10 minutes every day.

Why 10 minutes?  Why not an hour?  Well -- an hour can be intimidating, and if you're not in the mood you'll put it off and before you know it you won't have picked up your sketch pad in a week.  Yeah, I know that feeling.  But 10 minutes -- hell, you can almost ALWAYS find 10 minutes a day for drawing, and once you get started, more often than not you'll end up spending more than 10 minutes.

Well, I hadn't picked up my sketchpad in literally MONTHS... but so far this week, those 10 minutes are more like an hour a day and I'm really getting back into it.
I'd forgotten about this until one of my students mentioned deviantArt this fall.  Amazingly enough, i could remember my password too.
Thought I'd register and see what's what.
